Get together and exchange among locals and refugees

By offering joint activities, the “Öku Ini” promotes cooperation between citizens of different cultures.

Project description

Integrative weekend excursion and visit of the Science Center Phänomenta

The Hans Hermann Voss Foundation supports the projects of the Ökumenische Initiative e. V. in Wipperfürth to promote the exchange between locals and fugitives as well as between fugitives from different countries of origin. To this end, in June 2019 the foundation funded a joint visit of locals and fugitives to the Science Center Phänomenta Lüdenscheid. With 180 interactive displays, The Phänomenta addresses both adults and children to explore and try out.

Furthermore, in August 2019 the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation funded a weekend trip for refugees and volunteers to the Conference House „Nordhelle” in the region Sauerland. This trip was also organized by the Ökumenische Initiative e.V. and included intercultural workshops and various leisure activities, with the aim to facilitate encounters and talks between participants and families to enhance solidarity among each other.
