Play by Cologne Children's Opera

As the Cologne Children's Opera is a long way away, the children's opera from Cologne comes to Wipperfürth once a year.

Project description

New opera for children three years and older

For the season 2018/2019, the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung funded the production of the new opera for children “Pin Kaiser and Fip Husar” at the Cologne Children’s Opera. The play is based on the children’s book written by Dieter Wiesmüller.

An Antarctic penguin meets an ape from the African savannah, and they start an uncommon friendship. The play focusses on topics such as diversity, alienness, clash of different cultures and ways of communication. The opera was produced for children three years and older.

In 2016 the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung supported the Friends of the Children's Opera by financing a new minibus, enabling the Cologne Children’s Opera to perform the production “Irgendwie anders” (“Somehow different”) also in Wipperfürth in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, “Pin Kaiser and Fip Husar” was performed in Wipperfürth. All preschool children in town visited the plays.
