STEM-friendly school

A number of schools in the Oberberg district have been recognized as “STEM-friendly schools” or “digital schools”.

Award for schools in the district Oberbergischer Kreis

On initiative of the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation, from 2014 onwards, different schools from Wipperfürth and Marienheide applied for the title "STEM-friendly school" and were awarded. Some schools were awarded additionally as a "Digital school".

The initiator of the distinctions is the initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen" (Creating a STEM future). This initiative aims to pool the many already existing individual STEM initiatives in order to give the topic of STEM a wider platform through a collective stand. An important goal of "MINT Zukunft schaffen" is to improve the quantity and quality of teaching and learning in the STEM subjects at schools and universities.
